Termometer infra merah, mendeteksi temperatur secara optik selama objek diamati, radiasi energi sinar infra merah diukur, dan disajikan sebagai suhu, dengan mengetahui jumlah energi infra merah yang dipancarkan oleh objek dan emisinya, temperatur objek dapat dibedakan.

Non-contact thermometer

An infrared thermometer detects temperature optically while observing an object. The infrared radiation energy is measured and displayed as temperature. By knowing the amount of infrared energy emitted by an object and its emission, the object's temperature can be determined.
