Bukti Citra Satelit,

Persoalan utama dari citra satelit adalah resolusi, saat ini kualitas gambarnya terlalu rendah untuk dapat menunjukkan perubahan dengan mendetail. Global Forest Watch memberikan citra 50 meter per pixel, yang tidak terlalu tepat (tapi ia juga memiliki citra 30 meter per pixel, namun hanya membuatnya sekali setahun, dan tentu saja tidak cukup cepat jika akan digunakan sebagai bukti deforestasi). Ini membawa kita ke masalah kedua: pembaruan. Gambar-gambar seringkali diperbarui dalam sebulan, dan kadang setahun. Hal ini bisa berubah: perusahaan seperti Planet Labs menjanjikan citra harian di masa depan, dan Libra memberikan data Landsat setiap dua minggu. Proyek MAAP bertujuan untuk menghasilkan informasi terbaru setiap minggu dari Andean Amazon. Ini bagus untuk tujuan analisa historis, namun terkadang tidak praktis untuk monitoring seketika (meskipun foto udara lakukan-sendiri, bisa membantu mendapatkan citra yang lebih baru).

Satellite Imagery Evidence

The main problem with satellite imagery is resolution, currently the image quality is too low to show changes in detail. Global Forest Watch provides 50-meter-per-pixel imagery, which is not very accurate (it also has 30-meter-per-pixel imagery, but only does it once a year, which is certainly not fast enough to be used as evidence of deforestation). This brings us to the second problem: updates. The images are often updated within a month, and sometimes a year. This could change: companies like Planet Labs promise daily imagery in the future, and Libra provides Landsat data every two weeks. The MAAP project aims to produce weekly updates from the Andean Amazon. This is great for historical analysis purposes, but sometimes impractical for real-time monitoring (although do-it-yourself aerial photography can help get more recent imagery).
